Clwyd Summer Bronze Medal Show: Important Notice - Equine Influenza 

 

The Committee has been monitoring the recent cases of Equine Influenza and continues to keep the situation under review. As always, the health and welfare of horses attending our shows remains a priority.

 

The current vaccination requirements for Clwyd WPCA shows remain as published in the show schedule.

 

We kindly ask all exhibitors to be vigilant and to act responsibly in the interests of all horses attending.

 

Please DO NOT bring your horse to the show if they are showing any signs of illness, including:

 

• High temperature / fever

• Coughing

• Nasal discharge

• Lethargy or dullness

• Loss of appetite

• Difficulty breathing or reduced performance

• Swollen glands around the jaw

 

Please help us protect everyone by following good biosecurity practices:

 

 DO:

• Monitor your horse's temperature before attending

• Wash or sanitise hands regularly

• Use your own buckets, grooming kit and equipment

• Maintain sensible distance between horses where possible

• Reload horses promptly after showing where practical

 

 DON'T:

• Bring horses showing any symptoms of illness

• Share water buckets, feed bowls, tack or grooming equipment

• Allow unnecessary nose-to-nose contact between horses

• Attend if there is suspected infectious illness on your yard

• Ignore signs of illness, even if they appear mild
